So 71 books read in 2012, I think the most notable were The first two books in the Expanse series by James S A Corey (Leviathan Wakes and Caliban's War) and these are a fantastic start to a Space Opera series and the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch which is an urban fantasy series following PC Peter Grant as he discovers the existence of magic and the supernatural and becomes apprentice to Inspector Nightingale, the last wizard in Britain

Interesting list. Some I have read before and some are new to me. I shall look out for your recommendations as they sound interesting particularly the Rivers of London series. As you may have seen from my blog entry I managed 146 books this year courtesy of the Kindle app on the netbook as well as the libraries/book loans etc etc. I dont think I will achieve a number like that again as it was partly due to the awful weather which kept me indoors for a lot of the summer and when I got bored with x-stitch/knitting/rug-making/painting I read. Hopefully I shall be outside more trhis year.

Sweet. I was given a copy of the Aaronovitch trilogy for Christmas... looking forward to reading it still more now!
